Some videos have been made in the millions, released and re released time and time again, these obviously have a low value as they are not rare in the slightest but if say like "the graduate" a film which is very popular ( hence the huge amount of releases and versions both in VHS and DVD ) is offered for sale then you will be lucky to get a penny, maybe its even ideal for the dustbin!

But wait! what video release is it? is it a standard Warner Bros packaging? BIN IT! but if you have the small boxed version from "SPECTRUM" then you know its an eighties release and will command at least £5 more than a penny as they are vintage maybe even classified as a retro release!
When you see any video with the SPECTRUM rainbow colours at the top then buy it, it will almost certainly command a decent price and in years to come can only build in value,

These videos were released recently after the certification law came in, a subject i will touch upon in my future blogs. I hope some of you have already learnt a few tips  :)
Ok im starting with the exercise video. Some exercise videos are popular for the star performing some for the type of workout, others because they are not available in dvd format, this video belonged to all the mention categories. The following "video gems" video stars Lotte Berk. I found this video in a local charity shop and needless to say paid a low price for it. On offering it up for sale i was inundated with offers from Japan U.SA. and Germany. Each and every of the 9 emails stated they had been looking for this video for a long time and requested it be sent to them. Im in the U.K. and usually only sell to the U.K. so was reluctant to accept payments from these countries and risk it being lost in transit. I eventually accepted an offer from Germany for a total of £32 including postage which cost me £3.20, making someone very ecstatic. I even suspect i sold it for less than its true value, you live and learn i suppose.

VHS VIDEO TAPES FOREVER!

Some people think the old format of the clunky chunky VHS video tape is a long forgotten relic, but this simply isn't true!! Think back to the time when the CD came into our lives, small, sleek, light and easy to store! This didn't mean the cartwheel sized vinyl records were now obsolete, far from it! There is a huge collectible market for vinyl and are still used in nightclubs across the world by DJs

Well its the same for video tapes when the DVD appeared in our shops!

Videos are not only indestructible but they are very collectible with some still fetching upwards of £200 per tape!! You have to think of videos as rarities when you realise that not all films/programmes/recordings will be released on DVD which means they will be lost forever never to be seen by the viewing public again.

Its like the Steptoe and Son series (not a particular valuable video before you ask) when the series was released onto VHS video there were episodes missing because the BBC who at the time did everything they could to save money regally recorded new shows over old ones so they did not have to keep buying those expensive film reels.

It was only some 40 years later when some rare episodes thought to be lost forever turned up in in a musty box in someones cellar, these episodes were re-released and therefore made a fortune when they were sold on DVD completing the Steptoe and Son series.

Its the same for video,in fact only recently i sold a music video to the Welsh BBC music department, why? they obviously did not have this video in their archives and needed it to either create a new DVD or maybe create a music show for TV ,who knows but it was a very lucrative sale for me and only proved to me the value of the VHS video tape.

I have a huge range of videos from the minimal priced classic to the very rare, from the deleted recordings to the educational, from the simply collectible to the outright scarce. I would like to teach other enthusiasts the way to go, maybe make yourselves some money or just check the value of videos you have knocking around, DO NOT even think about throwing them away! keep hold of them until you know the true value,I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

My aim for this site is to show you some of my rarer lots, to educate what video has the potential for good money, you might be surprised as even some videos that ARE on DVD still command great prices!

Over the next few blogs i will post pics of the videos i have and the ones i sold and for how much..keep watching guys :)
